Highlands Sprint Series – Round 4 featuring TCR New Zealand and Mazda Racing Series
April 23 @ 8:00 am - April 24 @ 5:00 pm
Highlands is as committed to grass roots racing as it is to higher profile events and we are back, bigger and better than ever for the 2020/2021 Highlands Sprint Series (HSS) season.
For the HSS, the circuit configuration will be circuit A and circuit C of Highlands joined together creating a 2.9km circuit.
The inaugural TCR New Zealand champion will be crowned after a single winner-takes-all round at Highlands during the Highlands Sprint Series. Initially, the championship was set to be held over four meetings, starting at Manfeild in January but the calendar was revised due to shipping delays from Europe as many cars would not be able to make it to the grid in time for a full four-round season. Thus, the winner of the April 23-24 round at Highlands will receive the TCR NZ title. The winner will take away the title on TCR NZ Champions and also receive free entry into any of the remaining 2021 TCR Australia rounds, including the Bathurst International event, for the winner of the TCR New Zealand Championship, is on offer at Highlands.
Kiwi motorsport legends Greg Murphy, Hayden Paddon, Paul Radisich and Chris van der Drift are just some of the featured racers lining up on the grid to compete for the championship. We are expecting some fierce not to be missed racing action out on track during the event.
The Super Production Series is open to production-based race cars such as the Ginetta or Porsche 996, 997 and 991 as well as the likes of Ferrari Challenge or even a MINI Challenge car. The Super Production Series incorporates both the Allied Petroleum TCR NZ and Production Racing Championships’ on the same grid.
The MAZDA RACING SERIES features MAZDA RX7’s and RX8’s competing across New Zealand for the North Island Championship, South Island Championship and New Zealand Championship. The Highlands round of the Mazda Racing Series is Round 4 of the South Island series and final round of the NZ Championship.
