Winter Drive Experience

Master unexpected situations on winter roads with our Winter Drive Experience.

Great for businesses wanting to keep employees safe during the winter months, or individuals looking to improve winter driving skills.

Led by a professional New Zealand race car driver, this three-hour experience focuses on practical, highly relevant skills to keep drivers safe and in control on the roads. Drivers will learn:

  • How to stop in an emergency
  • How to handle your car in adverse conditions (including ice simulation)
  • Basic Car maintenance
  • What to do if you lose control of your vehicle
  • Safe driving techniques
  • Economical driving techniques

All training is undertaken in the participants’ car, helping to ensure that the skills they’re learning are directly applicable within the car they drive on a daily basis.

Drivers will also get a car safety check from our qualified, on-site mechanic as well as the opportunity to do controlled track laps on part of the Highlands circuit – always a highlight.

UPCOMING DATES: 11th July 8.30am – 11.30am

“Our company staff do all the electrical work for three local ski fields, as well as driving throughout Central Otago, & as such they are faced with a wide range of driving conditions. We have found that by putting them through the Highlands winter driving course prior to winter, focuses their minds on the challenges they will face during winter. Our staff look forward to it – & you can’t say that too often about training! It’s fast-paced and hands-on. I’m confident that their experience at highlands has not only made them better drivers, its given them skills for life.”

Winter Drive Experience

Per Person
  • Led by our professional New Zealand race car driver
  • Tailored, practical winter driving skills experience
  • All training is undertaken in the participants’ own car
  • Morning or afternoon tea included
  • Group discounts available for groups of 10 or more (max 30 people per session)

Why should we do this as a company? Our staff have a driver’s license, they know how to drive!

The Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, states that a vehicle is a place of work – & as such anyone that drives as part of their work must receive training that is specific to the job, otherwise the company could be liable (or partly liable) in the event of an accident. Staff who are experienced in safe driving are less likely to have accidents, which results in less downtime, less vehicle damage and fewer insurance claims. Winter driving skills can potentially save your employees’ lives & the lives of others.
