The Highlands outdoor Go-Kart Track is 650 metres long, consists of 672 cubic metres of concrete jungle and edged with 4,830 tyres – an impressive facility all around!.

Things you need to know
Fast Facts & Safety
We have a zero tolerance to alcohol on all self-drive activities.
Any injuries must be cleared by the Go Kart Team.
Tandem Karts are speed limited to be slower than Single Karts and they are designed for an adult and a child.
Our Go Kart Track is weather dependant.
Driver minimum age is 10 years old and must be over the height of 140cm*
Tandem passenger minimum age is 6 years old and must be over the height of 120cm*. Tandem driver minimum age is 16 years old.
You must arrive and check in at Highlands at least 30 minutes before your booking time.
What to wear
No loose items or clothing.
Ensure long hair is tied up and tucked inside your helmet or down the back of your top.
Sunscreen for summer Central Otago Sun.
Recommend cotton tees and longer shorts.
Gloves for the cold.
Closed in shoes. NO open footwear allowed.
What we provide
Helmet and hair net.
Safety briefing before you head out on track.
We have secure lockers to store your items while on track.
*Although you may comply with the age and height restrictions above, you must have the ability to fully control the Kart. - as everyone carries their height differently. Some customers may be required to prove they can control the kart in our test go kart prior to departure. Final decision will be made by our Go Kart team.
FAQS
Do I need to make a booking?
We strongly recommend making a booking so you avoid missing out on our exceptional experiences. Especially during our busy periods such as weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
How long is each race?
Every Go Karting Race is 10 minutes long.
How fast do the Karts go?
The Single Karts are capable of speeds of up to 50 km/hr and the Tandem Karts are capable of speeds of up to 40 km/hr.
What happens if it rains?
Our Karts do not operate if it is raining and the track is wet. If you are booked in, our team will contact you if our track is closed.
Can two adults go in a Tandem Kart?
They can, but we strongly recommend against it. The Tandem Karts are speed limited to be slower than Single Karts and they are designed for an adult and a child.
How many Karts are on track at a time?
We can have up to 14 Karts out on track at a time. Please note, we can only have 4 Tandem Go Karts on track at once.
Can I video my experience?
We do not recommend taking phones out on the Go Kart Track. You can bring your Go-Pro and wear a chest mount, but Go-Pros are not allowed on helmets. Your friends and family not racing can take some great photos and videos from our Go Kart viewing deck.
Do the Go Karts go on the same race track as your ride products?
No, Highlands has a 650M purpose-built outdoor Go Kart Track.
How can I see my lap times?
You will be able to view your fastest lap time immediately after your race in the Go Kart Building. You will also be emailed your lap times. Please ensure when creating your profile at Go Karts you select “Email me my results and special offers”.
