Six years ago, Highlands opened its gates on Sandflat Road and so much has changed in those six years. The town of Cromwell has grown and changed dramatically and Highlands has grown with it. One of the things that makes Highlands so special is the spectacular location and the support from the people of Cromwell.
“We’re so grateful for the ongoing support we’ve had from the local Cromwell community,” says Josie Spillane of Highlands. “To recognise that, we’re introducing a Locals’ Card to make it easier for them to enjoy our facilities and to show the place off to visitors. We know that the people of Cromwell are advocates and cheerleaders for us in the community and we want to make sure we look after them so we’ve come up with the Highlands mates rates.”
The Locals’ Card has will cost just $30 per year for an individual or $60 for a family and includes unlimited entry to the museum all year round (which normally costs $25 per person). Cardholders will also be entitled to 10 per cent off all activities at Highlands, including the cafe, as well as discounts with other partner businesses around Cromwell. They’ll be kept up to date with what’s happening at Highlands and will get priority tickets for special events.
“More and more people are visiting Cromwell as a holiday destination,” says Spillane. “it’s amazing how many ‘friends’ come out of the woodwork when you live in paradise! We want to make it as easy as possible for the Cromwell community to support Highlands and we think the Locals’ Card, will make it a bit more affordable and easier to call down when you feel like it. We want locals to treat Highlands as their own and feel welcome here.”
There are some really exciting developments happening at Highlands this summer including a new attraction at the museum to complement the existing activities included with the museum entry. There’s the mini golf and balance bikes, hands on activities in the museum and plenty of space for the kids to run around and burn off some energy! After a wander around the museum you can enjoy a cup of coffee, glass of wine or a meal at the cafe and soak up the splendid views from the terrace.
